I Like Trains
First signing and debut release for newly founded Atlantic Curve label
6 May 2020
Schubert Music Europe GmbH, the holding company for all music publishers of the Schubert Music Publishing Group, which currently has 13 international offices and covers 29 territories, as well as many other music companies, has established a new, international structure featuring ten record labels, which are internationally being distributed by The Orchard, the world’s largest independent distributor.
Of these ten labels, Atlantic Curve, with headquarters in London, Los Angeles and New York and specializing in electronic and alternative pop, can now announce its first prominent signing.
Alternative rock veterans I Like Trains from Leeds have signed with Atlantic Curve and will be releasing new music on May 6th, 2020.
Later this year, the British quintet’s fourth studio album will be released after a creative break of several years. In 2016, the feature documentary ‘A Divorce Before Marriage’ by British filmmakers Ben Lankester and Matt Hopkins was released, which follows the band members for over three years, capturing their struggle to succeed first-hand.
I Like Trains singer David Martin states, “We’ve been away for a while, so it feels good to be coming back with fresh energy and to be here at the start of something new in the form of Atlantic Curve. We’re delighted to have a new home and look forward to seeing where this journey with Thomas, Daryl, Ina and the whole team will take us.”
As well as announcing their first signing, Atlantic Curve has also named Daryl Bamonte, who has been Managing Director of Schubert Music Publishing UK since 2014, as its label-head. Bamonte is supported by Bill Murphy and Michael Pagnotta, who, in turn, manage the Schubert Music offices in Los Angeles and New York.
“It’s appropriate that I Like Trains is the first signing to Atlantic Curve. I’ve followed their career since the beginning and they’ve never been afraid to break new ground, while always growing their audience. With the sound of their new album, they are a perfect fit for our new label,” says Daryl Bamonte.
Thomas Thyssen, who is Managing Director and Head of Recorded Music for Schubert Music Agency, notes, “As a fan and follower from the very beginning, it is not just a personal highlight to be able to welcome I Like Trains as part of the international Schubert family. The new song material could not fit better into the current, very moving and troubled times: Inconvenient, authentic and frighteningly contemporary.”
Schubert Music Europe GmbH is a music publisher, record company, license hub and holding company for all Schubert Music Companies and labels, in particular all Schubert Music Publishing branches in Europe and the USA, as well as the German Schubert Music Agency, Celsius Management, Hardbeat Promotion and Schubert Music Live.
