Portland’s Kallai augments the hopelessness of hopeless romantics with their vortexical reverb-soaked serenade, ‘Falling’ as the second taste of what’s being caged in their shoegaze stable, KALLAI’s single, ‘Falling’, from their upcoming LP, ‘We Are Forever’, creates a kaleidoscope of alt-indie dream pop intimacy.
In place of walls of distortion, there are cascades of tender emotional proximity, rising, falling, and swirling until the four-piece triumphs in exhibiting the all-consuming effect of rose-tinted catharsis on the soul.
Lined with longing, cradled in affectionate confession, and augmented by the impassion of obsession, ‘Falling’ is an ethereal awakening to the true visceralism of love with a narrative carried in three-part harmonies reminiscent of the chemistry shared between the harmonists in Low and Slowdive.
String sections, pianos drifting through the ethereal ether, and angular tinges of post-punk revival inspired guitars push the shoegaze genre forward while keeping the essence of roots intact just enough to ensure that resonance blossoms.

It isn’t shoegaze as you know it; it’s shoegaze as 2025 needs it. Stream ‘Falling’ on all major platforms from September 5th.
KALLAI said: “’Falling’ claws itself into the crux of the moment when you realize you are falling in love with someone; in a state of complete freefall where you would forsake everything and go any distance for that person.”
