Hurtsfall have been riding a wave of success from their previous singles. Receiving airplay and support from the Alternative, Post Punk, Goth Scene radio shows, podcast and DJs worldwide. Culminating in feature on the band in scene bible Sonic Seducer Magazine’s latest issue.
Stars finds the band in a more accessible poppy mood. Harking back to the glory days of the 80’s when the alternative bands stood side by side with the mainstream.
Hurtsfall’s distinctive 80s vibe was born from the loss of the bands original guitarist. After deciding not to replace him Mike swapped his Bass for a Bass VI to fill out the bands sound and an evocative new sound emerged redolent of classic Joy Division/New Order and The Cure.
Of Stars singer Sam says “ I had a vision of being able to move freely on the sea with stars all around and how that relates to moving through life as I was about to turn thirty. It’s a story, you can hear the growth: struggling with the world, realising you can let go and move on, meeting someone, emotional progress.
Stars was recorded and produced by Mark Parkins at Nottingham’s best little studio Psyrex Soundlab.
“Like an 80’s Depeche Mode Christmas single” Sonic Seducer
“a fine wine…flavours are subtle with hints of The Damned, Bowie, Depeche Mode.” – Down The Front Media.
“If every homage and throwback was this good and faithful, you’d swear this was original sin.” Rats on the Run
