Galaktlan is the electronic, experimental project of Estonian artist Taavi Laatsit, currently Brussels-based, who brings a sci-fi aesthetic to every piece he produces.
In 2013, Galaktlan joined the Seksound Records catalog with the release of Second Memory. Since then, Galaktlan has released a number of projects on the Seksound label including full-lengths, EPs and singles. Now, Galaktlan is back with En Garde, his tenth full-length album, and third full- length on Seksound Records.
En Garde is a concept album about duelling. Releasing on September 17th, the record escorts the listener to other realms of musical possibilities as electronics take flight and soar into an aethereal, magical atmosphere. Evoking electronic glitch, dance beats, and electro-soundtrack sensibilities, Laatsit soars on En Garde bringing a clear expertise to his electronic compositions. There are ghostly moments throughout the album that sit alongside beats and various electronic structures, both soothing and enticing.
Laatsit used the Arturia V Collection plus a number of UAD effects to magnificent effect. A master of soft-synths and hardware alike, he manages to create a beautiful successor to Constance. Influenced by Laatsit’s time in the improvisational noise group Kismabande and in experimental project Kulgurid, En Garde has a depth to it with expressive layers and meaningful musical connections. Taavi Laatsit mixed the album himself while Lauri Liivak, long time Seksound mainstay, brought his expertise in mastering to the project.
